It is so simple, that it is hard to believe it is effective, I know! Many of you may know it, but some of you may not. I learned this indispensable (to me) secret, from a patient of mine. It is amazing, how much the love and the care a doctor and a patient share for one another, can benefit both of them. The true medicine comes from the heart, and always will. It is the heart that bonds, warms, and heals all diseases and wounds. May we always feel the warmth and the support of the love around us.

So, let’s go back to the frown lines. There is no woman I know, who likes a deep furrow in between her eyebrows. I am sure that many men do not want that annoying vertical line on their faces either. This may be vanity, but why not reduce the lines, if there is a simple and non-toxic way to do it?
First, we need to understand why wrinkles occur.
The shocking revelation is that wrinkles' appearance has nothing to do with the skin and everything to do with the muscles underneath the skin.
Is there some proof for this statement? Yes, there is, and not just one. For example, botulinum toxin which is widely used to reduce wrinkles is injected in, and acts upon the muscles underneath the skin. Its effect is primarily on the muscles and only secondarily on the skin. I do not recommend the botulinum toxin injections for cosmetic use, since I have seen and treated, myself, many patients with terrifying side effects from the toxin. I have even written and published several articles on the subject in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
I always opt, whenever possible, for non-toxic, non-invasive methods when dealing with health issues.
In the end, protecting our health is essential to a happy life.

Let’s examine together the wrinkles on our foreheads.
The question is — what is the most common cause for spasm of the muscles of our foreheads?
The answer is — stress.
When we worry, we tend to tense the muscles of our bodies including those of our foreheads. When we worry for prolonged periods of time, our body assumes that this is the new “normal” and leaves the muscles of the forehead (and of other parts of our bodies) in a spasmodic state. Once this happens, the muscle in spasm pinches the skin and holds it into a furrow until you find a way to relax that muscle.

How do you do that? You can do it in several ways.
The first one is to just become conscious about the spasm of your forehead and to try to mentally relax it. Pay attention to your forehead, if possible at all times. Smiling and laughing, often relaxes those muscles, since you cannot smile and frown at the same time.

The second one is to keep your forefinger pressed against the frown lines of your forehead when you can, as a tactile reminder to relax the muscle and until you create a new “normal” relaxed state.
The third one is the most effective one and it is the one I have learned from my patient. Every night, before you go to bed, tape the frown line area after you stretch the skin well. Leave the tape on for the duration of the night. Remove it in the morning and wash your forehead well with soap and warm water. I use a cloth tape, as it is less irritating for the skin. A cloth tape is also more flexible and adheres more easily to the skin.
So, here is my precious secret, revealed as a gift to you my precious reader and virtual friend. May you always stay young, handsome and beautiful.

From my heart to yours,
Dr. Ani
